KERRY'S APOLOGY (?)
Our SOLDIERS respond to Kerry's sick "botched joke":
After continued critisim by not only Republicans and our soldiers, but also some Democrats (I feel ONLY because it is election time and people are outraged that these left wing dems are speaking out), Kerry issues what HE feels is an apology for his remark.
Statement of Senator John Kerry
As a combat veteran, I want to make it clear to anyone in uniform and to their loved ones: my poorly stated joke at a rally was not about, and never intended to refer to any troop.
I sincerely regret that my words were misinterpreted to wrongly imply anything negative about those in uniform, and I personally apologize to any service member, family member, or American who was offended.
It is clear the Republican Party would rather talk about anything but their failed security policy. I don’t want my verbal slip to be a diversion from the real issues. I will continue to fight for a change of course to provide real security for our country, and a winning strategy for our troops. www.johnkerry.com
Does THIS seem sincere to you? Doesn't to me...ONE: he was FORCED into this lame apology by the outcry of the American people. Remember him emphatically stating "I will apologize to NO ONE"!? And his FIRST press release stating the following:

Statement of John Kerry Responding to Republican Distortions, Pathetic Tony Snow Diversions and Distractions
Washington – Senator John Kerry issued the following statement in response to White House Press Secretary Tony Snow, assorted right wing nut-jobs, and right wing talk show hosts desperately distorting Kerry’s comments about President Bush to divert attention from their disastrous record:
“If anyone thinks a veteran would criticize the more than 140,000 heroes serving in Iraq and not the president who got us stuck there, they're crazy. This is the classic G.O.P. playbook. I’m sick and tired of these despicable Republican attacks that always seem to come from those who never can be found to serve in war, but love to attack those who did.
I’m not going to be lectured by a stuffed suit White House mouthpiece standing behind a podium, or doughy Rush Limbaugh, who no doubt today will take a break from belittling Michael J. Fox’s Parkinson’s disease to start lying about me just as they have lied about Iraq. It disgusts me that these Republican hacks, who have never worn the uniform of our country lie and distort so blatantly and carelessly about those who have.
The people who owe our troops an apology are George W. Bush and Dick Cheney who misled America into war and have given us a Katrina foreign policy that has betrayed our ideals, killed and maimed our soldiers, and widened the terrorist threat instead of defeating it. These Republicans are afraid to debate veterans who live and breathe the concerns of our troops, not the empty slogans of an Administration that sent our brave troops to war without body armor.
Bottom line, these Republicans want to debate straw men because they’re afraid to debate real men. And this time it won’t work because we’re going to stay in their face with the truth and deny them even a sliver of light for their distortions. No Democrat will be bullied by an administration that has a cut and run policy in Afghanistan and a stand still and lose strategy in Iraq.” desperately distorting Kerry’s comments about President Bush to divert attention from their disastrous record:

Let's break THIS down: Hmmmm.....
"...assorted right wing nut-jobs, and right wing talk show hosts desperately distorting Kerry’s comments....." So...the majority of Americans are "right wing nut-jobs"? "Distoring Kerry's comments"? Well, facts are facts...he said what he said...PERIOD!! He got caught with this pants down and didn't like his butt showing to the world!!
"...If anyone thinks a veteran would criticize the more than 140,000 heroes ...." Let's go back Senator Kerry....WHAT did you do and say in regards to our Vietnam veterans? That is a FACT also...so you once again are telling "untruths"!!!
"It disgusts me that these Republican hacks, who have never worn the uniform of our country lie and distort so blatantly and carelessly about those who have. " Excuse me Senator Kerry, but I believe John McCain was a POW in vietnam, don't you remember? Oh, that's right, you were so busy at that time calling our soldiers "baby killers" that our men being held prisoner had no meaning to you!! And wasn't President Bush serve his country in the Texas Air National Guard? Are you NOW saying our National Guard troops are NOT serving our country? You are really pathetic Senator Kerry!!!
"....Katrina foreign policy..." Sooo...George Bush CAUSED the hurricane! My, my...if he has THAT much power you should be quaking in your boots actually! You are so laughable! You are comparing the war in Iraq to a natural disaster...and although no one will say things might have been done better regarding the hurricane, did you forget that the DEMOCRATIC mayor and the DEMOCRATIC governor did ABSOLUTELY NOTHING to help their own people, but just whined and complained for federal assistance? Again, a pathetic attempt at nothing by you!
"These Republicans are afraid to debate veterans who live and breathe the concerns of our troops..." This is one of the most laughable statements I have seen....YOU who live and breathe the concern of our troops......that doesn't even merit a comment! EVERYONE can see through your PAST and PRESENT actions YOUR concerns for our troops!!!
"Bottom line, these Republicans want to debate straw men because they’re afraid to debate real men...." We're are STILL waiting for the REAL MEN to debate Senator Kerry....YOU are NOT one of them!!!
Bottom line is....Kerry is a pathetic.....and it will be interesting to see if the Democrats attempt to run him once again for President! Might be a good idea though....it would be a OVERWHELMING VICTORY for the Republicans!!!!!

Hi,maby its can be interest for u !
(by the way u have very nice blog :)
I totally agree with your excellent assessment. There was a joke however . . . It was Kerry who delivered the October/November suprise to the Democrats. Could anything be funnier???
Excuse me but Kerry DID APOLOGIZE! What is it about the following statement that your mind can’t comprehend?
“As a combat veteran, I want to make it clear to anyone in uniform and to their loved ones: my poorly stated joke at a rally was not about, and never intended to refer to any troop.
I sincerely regret that my words were misinterpreted to wrongly imply anything negative about those in uniform, and I personally apologize to any service member, family member, or American who was offended.”
Now lets examine YOUR COMMENTS, to wit:
1. “So...the majority of Americans are "right wing nut-jobs"? "Distoring Kerry's comments"?
Well, facts are facts...he said what he said...PERIOD!! He got caught with this pants down and didn't like his butt showing to the world!!”
Those are you words – not Kerry’s. The introduction to his statement exactly said:
“Senator John Kerry issued the following statement in response to White House Press Secretary Tony Snow, assorted right wing nut-jobs, and right wing talk show hosts desperately distorting Kerry’s comments about President Bush to divert attention from their disastrous record:”
Your deliberate distortion of this statement is clear evidence that you too are employing the “lie and smear tactics” of the GOP. Looks like it’s YOUR FAT BUTT hanging out – and it ain’t a pretty sight!
2. “Let's go back Senator Kerry....WHAT did you do and say in regards to our Vietnam veterans? That is a FACT also...so you once again are telling "untruths"!!!”
Yes, please do go back and tell us what Kerry said regarding Vietnam vets.
For your information he said that SOME of them had committed atrocities. What was untrue about that? Remember Me Lai? If you took the time to actually read what he said back in 1972 you would realize (or, given your mentality, maybe you wouldn’t) that he was indicting the war itself as the cause of this extreme behavior. He wasn’t criticizing the troops – he was criticizing the Nixon administration for continuing a senseless, disasterous war that was turning SOME of our troops into war criminals.
His objective was to end that war and bring the killing and maiming of our troops AND of Vietnamese civilians to an end. I know that may be hard for you to comprehend since it’s a bit more complex than the redneck battle cry: “kill em all – let God sort em out.”
3. "It disgusts me that these Republican hacks, who have never worn the uniform of our country lie and distort so blatantly and carelessly about those who have."
You are really pathetic Senator Kerry!!!”
Oh Lord, please spare us! Dumbo, do you understand the meaning of the word, “who?” It places a condition on that which precedes it. Kerry is referring to those Republicans hacks who DID NOT wear the uniform. He was not referring to McCain. But since you raised McCain’s name I will add that the behavior of McCain, a true Vietnam war hero, has become a whore for the GOP in order to get their presidential nomination for president in 2008. Sad but so true.
But I’m glad you brought up George Bush “serving his country in the Texas Air National Guard.” Yeah, right. First off, the only reason he was in the Guard was to stay out of Vietnam. It is common knowledge that he used family connections to leapfrog over several hundred applicants who were far better qualified for flight training. Bush scored in the BOTTOM QUARTER of the applicants. Then once he got in and completed flight training (at a cost to the government of about $500,000) he refused to take his flight physical (when mandatory drug testing was instituted) and never flew again. By the way, he was disciplined for insubordination because of is refusing to obey the lawful order to take that flight physical. Then there was that year-long lapse during which nobody ever saw the guy attend any drills in Alabama. But what people did remember was that he was often drunk or hungover.
Yeah, George Bush served his country in uniform all right. Don’t be ridiculous.
Finally, don’t confuse the “Champagne” squadron of the Texas Air National Guard in the early 1970s with today’s National Guard. Our Guard troops in Iraq certainly are serving our country - to a fault. The National Guard was not formed to be sent off to fight wars on foreign soil nor were they trained for that mission. Nonetheless, the DoD has sent them back two and three times, often with inferior equipment. This further shows just how incompetent the Bush administration is.
When Hurricane Katrina hit the Guard troops at home were undermanned and underequipped to respond to that natural disaster, which IS THE MISSION OF THE NATIONAL GUARD! Just one more Bush screwup!
SO NOW WHO LOOKS PATHETIC, DUMBO?
4. "These Republicans are afraid to debate veterans who live and breathe the concerns of our troops..."
“This is one of the most laughable statements I have seen....YOU who live and breathe the concern of our troops......that doesn't even merit a comment! EVERYONE can see through your PAST and PRESENT actions YOUR concerns for our troops!!!”
Speak for yourself, blindman. Shall we go through the congress and the Bush administration and count up how many Republicans have served in the military? Not many. A lot of chickenhawk neocons in the GOP, including Cheney with his 5 deferments and Bush with his Champagne squadron participation – when he showed up that is. Men like Kerry were dying in Vietnam while Bush was working on his next hangover.
5. “"Bottom line, these Republicans want to debate straw men because they’re afraid to debate real men...."
“We're are STILL waiting for the REAL MEN to debate Senator Kerry....YOU are NOT one of them!!! Bottom line is....Kerry is a pathetic.....and it will be interesting to see if the Democrats attempt to run him once again for President! Might be a good idea though....it would be a OVERWHELMING VICTORY for the Republicans!!!!!"
This last comment of yours is so convoluted it is a fitting end your rant. Short of McCain the GOP isn’t strong on putting forward “real men.”
Is George “Macaca” Allen your idea of a “real man?” Someone who bullies a dark-skinned teen before an overwhelmingly white, Southern male audience? Yeah, right.
Jim Webb, a Vietnam war hero who shielded his buddies from a live grenade with his body, is going to whup Allen’s fat, bullyboy ass!
By the way, tell us when and where you served in the military.
And for your information (not that I much care what you think) I AM A VETERAN.
RB in DC,
First, I want to thank you for such an intense and spirited response! You definitely appear angry and your demeanor with insults and name-calling is quite typical of a far left liberal democrat (which I lovingly refer to as a FLLD)!!
I do not think I claimed to have "served" in military service, however, I am from a long line of military people in my family, grew up in a military family, married a veteran of vietnam! You claim to be a veteran...since that cannot be proven or disproved I will only say, if you are, I thank you for your service to our country!! With you being a veteran, however, it is hard to understand how YOU would not have taken personal affront to Senator Kerry's "botched joke" claiming our service men and women are basically uneducated!! It is hard to believe that a VETERAN, however, could not know some important issues as far as dates and names as I have addressed below! :)
Did he apologize...eventually, yes! Do I personally think it was a heartfelt apology...NO I do not! Why did he not just come out IMMEDIATELY and say, "ok...I was attempting to make a joke about Bush and it came out wrong..I apologize for not being that great of a comedian!" No, he was pressured into his "apology"....and THAT should be an insult to you, also...being a veteran and all!!
BTW, to refresh your history, Kerry addressed the Senate Committee of Foreign Relation in April of 1971 NOT 1972!!! And he did criticize our troops at a time of war no matter how you want to distort it!!! And did you know that HIS photograph is proudly displayed at the Vietnamese Communist War Museum for his protests against America and the war!? He certainly should be very proud of that fact!!
Also, please not that the war atrocity you are referring to is My Lai NOT Me Lai and was in March of 1968! Was this a horrible event, yes, no one has said it wasn't! But that does NOT excuse Kerry's actions, by the way, at a time of war!! His rhetoric made it harder for our POWs at that time and sadly, turned a great number of people in our country, against our soldiers! That is inexcusable and unforgivable!!
In case you didn't realize it, FLLDs have a very specific way of talking/writing, addressing people, and specific "key" words they ALWAYS use.....and you fit right in...the perfect little mold!! So rant on my little leftist friend........the world awaits!!!!!
ANGRY? YOU BETTER BELIEVE I’M ANGRY!
I’m angry because the criticisms of Kerry’s botch4ed joke is being conflated into something it is not using the sam despicable, slanderous tactics employed by the Swift Boat rednecks in 2004 – who incidentally were funded by a multi-millionaire Texan with ties to the Bush family.
I’m not denying that Kerry handled his gaffe badly and should have apologized earlier. But ineptly handling a mistake is not the same as insulting his brothers in arms. you can believe whatever you want regarding his sincerity. I doubt that even a mountain of evidence would change your mind.
I find it interesting that you took the time to look up the exact date of Kerry’s congressional testimony but chose not to tell us exactly what he said and how that criticized our troops. As you well know Kerry has no control over what the Vietnamese War Museum displays any more than he has any control over what is displayed in the Nixon Presidential Library.
Maybe you should have a serious talk with husband about what he witnessed in Vietrnam. If he served in combat I suspect he saw much of the same thing that I saw – and Kerry testified to.
Your falling back on substance over form (MY Lai vs. the phonetic spelling, Me Lai) reveals your paucty of substantive argument. According to your logic we should all "make nice" over atrocities and shoot the messengers who inform us of the truth. I’m sure the Bush administration agrees with that. After all, why do American citizens need to know about Abu Grahib, no WMDs, CIA renditions, imprisonment of innocent people, kidnapping foreign citizens off the streets in Western European countries, illegal tapping of our phones, outing of CIA operatives… the list goes on and on. It is hard to believe that this much damage could have been done to our country in just 6 years.
Finally, I’m not a “far-left liberal democrat” – I’m a moderate independent who is fed up with the chickenhawk, right-wingnuts that have taken over the country I fought for. I want my country back!
As for your cutsy, "FLLD," it's not cute; it's the same name-calling tactic that Karl Rove and other Republicans use when the facts don't support their case.
Your husband has my regards - and my sympathy.
RBinDC
RB in DC,
Welcome back!!! It is very obvious you are a huge John Kerry supporter, which makes it unbelievable that you call yourself a "moderate" independent!! Kerry is among one of the most liberal senators serving in Washington!! Being such a big fan of his, it appears that you have put on blinders regarding anything "negative" about him and/or his actions!
And by the way, whether or not you approved of the actions of the Swift Boaters, they were ALL VETERANS and POWS...many of whom served WITH your illustrious John Kerry! To call them "Swift Boat Rednecks" is very insulting...and if you are a veteran you should be ashamed of yourself for that! You cannot seem to even attempt to fathom that YOU might be wrong and THEY might be right..or have a point in what they are saying!!! Have you ever taken time to READ what they have said, read the proof that they have? Oh heavens no...I'm sure you haven't because it might "break the spell" you are apparently under!!
In regards to Kerry's picture hanging in the Vietnam War Museum..........
"In the Vietnamese Communist War Remnants Museum (formerly known as the "War Crimes Museum") in Ho Chi Minh City (Saigon), a photograph of John Kerry hangs in a room dedicated to the anti-war activists who helped the Vietnamese Communists win the Vietnam War. The photograph shows Senator Kerry being greeted by the General Secretary of the Communist Party of Vietnam, Comrade Do Muoi. ....The Vietnamese communists clearly feel that the American anti-war protestors were a very important force in undermining support in the United States for American war efforts, a force that contributed materially to ultimate communist victory in 1975."
You stated: "I want my country back!" Well, on that we are in 100% agreement. However, I do suggest that you really take a hard look at, and study Kerry, his views, his actions both past and present, etc because with the FAR LEFT LIBERALS in charge we WILL lose our country and its sovereignty.
BTW, in closing, here is how Kerry felt in 1970 (yes...30 years ago, but have these views REALLY changed):
“I’m an internationalist,” Kerry told The Crimson in 1970. “I’d like to see our troops dispersed through the world only at the directive of the United Nations.”Kerry said he wanted “to almost eliminate CIA activity. The CIA is fighting its own war in Laos and nobody seems to care.”
Also RB in DC, we may disagree on issues but I do appreciate you visiting my blog and giving your thoughts! BTW, I gave my husband your message...he just smiled!
