KERRY INSULTS OUR TROOPS

''You know, education, if you make the most of it, you study hard, you do your
homework and you make an effort to be smart, you can do well. If you don't, you
get stuck in Iraq.''-- Sen. John Kerry"
Well, Kerry strikes again!! In an attempt to make a so called "joke" about our President he has instead insulted not only our troops, but veterans around the world that have been a part of protecting our country!!!

Isn't this the SAME John Kerry that rubbed shoulders with "Hanoi Jane" in the Vietnam era and testified at the US Senate Committee on Foreign Relations in 1971 that called our US soldiers murderers and baby killers!!????

In my opinion, John Kerry is despicable!!! He never deserved to wear the uniform of a military officer and his military service, by his OWN actions, has been tarnished!!! Fortunately, when he rots in hell the brave men and women who have served our country will not have to spend eternity with him!!!

Do I sound mad....you're damn right I am....I am sick to death of our military soldiers being put down by the likes of him!! Many have given their lives for his right to be stupid and it makes me want to puke!!!! "Hanoi Jane and John" should move to Vietnam where I'm sure they will be welcome with open arms....or even move to Iraq where they can continue with their propaganda that supports terrorism!!! Kerry claims to be a patriot and love his country......now THAT'S A JOKE!!!!!!!

I think the republicans are clutching at straws, there is real anger about the direction of the USA at many levels, not only the war, but also inequality.

Soldiers are mostly from poor families, especially in the USA. Why is that? Why aren't rich kids going off to war? What kind of democracy allows this to happen?

The fact that the poor are usually not very educated (some are stupid some are average, few are highly intelligent but very very few would have gone to the army if they had alternatives especially these days) reflects the fact that most higher education in the US is very expensive and private.

Poor people are mostly excluded from education. The big change now is that unlike the past if you don't have a college degree you are unlikely to get a good job, and blue collar jobs are going to China Mexico and India, making the rich people that own the companies exporting those jobs richer (shareholders are included in this).

Increasingly middle income americans are affected too, mostly through their children. Sometimes as there are no good jobs to go to to live like a human being, people are forced to go to the army as it offers training and the only viable career...
Some become criminals... some become cleaners etc..

Whereas C students like Bush succeed based on their parents money not their own efforts, so this is hardly meritocracy. I wouldn't call Bush a smart man certainly he doesn't think about policy. I think he has outsourced the thinking to other unelected people who are influenced by lobbyists around him which is a big problem in a democracy.

As we live in a world were the rich can avoid the army, saying that poor people are the ones fighting the war is not a lie
Just think about it... Increasingly being poor makes you a non citizen in America..

This is particularly relevant since both Bush and Cheney avoided going to Vietnam by Bush getting his rich family to intervene for him to guard the fearsome invaders in Texas (i.e. nobody) during Vietnam, always at the ready from the bar, armed with several bottles of alcohol. Whereas Cheney used his university study as a reason not to go to Vietnam and he was granted this.

If they had fought in a war i would have much more time in listening to Bush or Cheney talk about the necessity of war or sacrifice, the reality is neither has experienced it... and they talk far too much about it.

I also fear that they use the war to obscure the financial interests they protect int he background. Americans need to do something about the corruption of their government..

Macko,

Thank you for your response. I do not believe Kerry's comments mentioned whether you're were rich/poor but insinuated that our soldiers were uneducated!! That is NOT the case and I do believe this was a insult to the good men and women that protect our country!! As this is an all volunteer military there are people from all walks of life, backgrounds and education level that make a conscious decision to join, especially now in a time of war, and I feel they should be respected and commended for that!!

Anyone can get an education in our country through hard work and studies. Because some parents can send their children to school and some can't doesn't mean that the chance for an education is not out there!

Talk of "the rich have" and the "poor have not" is nothing but a "class warfare"! This is a perfect play for the liberals and people buy into it! Anyone can be anything in this country if they work hard and believe in themselves and not in the continued hand-outs of the government. Is it hard? Yes, no one said it wouldn't be, but IT IS POSSIBLE and the only one that can take a dream from some body is the person who allows it to be taken! BTW, being "poor" in America does not make you a non-citizen in anyone's eyes....being ILLEGAL does!

In dicussed Bush as a "C" student, please note that Kerry faired no better:
Kerry, who graduated two years before Bush, got a cumulative 76 for his four years, according to a transcript that Kerry sent to the Navy when he was applying for officer training school. He received four D's in his freshman year out of 10 courses, but improved his average in later years.

The transcript shows that Kerry's freshman-year average was 71. He scored a 61 in geology, a 63 and 68 in two history classes, and a 69 in political science. His top score was a 79, in another political science course. Another of his strongest efforts, a 77, came in French class.

Under Yale's grading system in effect at the time, grades between 90 and 100 equaled an A, 80-89 a B, 70-79 a C, 60 to 69 a D, and anything below that was a failing grade. In addition to Kerry's four D's in his freshman year, he received one D in his sophomore year. He did not fail any courses.

''I always told my Dad that D stood for distinction," Kerry said.

Kerry's weak grades came despite years of education at some of the world's most elite prep schools, ranging from Fessenden School in Massachusetts to St. Paul's School in New Hampshire.

So I guess being "rich" does not make you smart...as proof here! :)

I do agree that our government is not doing a stand-up job in many areas. This is not just a Republican problem but also a Democrat problem! There are many areas in our country that need to be addressed along with what needs to be done in the Iraq situation. I do not believe "cutting and running" is an option at this point and most likely will bring more tragedy to our home front!

I agree with you macko that the majority of our soliders are not rich. You ask why aren't rich kids going off to war and what kind of democracy allows this to happen?
The United States no longer has a draft system and the rich kids have better and more options.

I have a question for you. What did you mean when you stated that
" there is real anger about the direction of the USA at many levels, not only the war, but also inequality." What were you referring to in the " inequality"?

My last question is speculative and anyone can answer that has an opinion. How long does the United States need to remain in Iraq before bringing our troops home without being accused of cutting and running?

choice..I appreciate your visit to my blog and your input. In regards to your question regarding how long America needs to stay in Iraq without being accused of "cutting an running" in an excellent question and one that is not easily answered.

If we pull our troops now, throw up our hands and say "we're done", then Iraq will definitely be taken over by Al Queda and all the other terror groups and not only America, but the rest of the world will definitely be "open game" for these terrorists!

What people need to remember is that the Islamic radicals hate America and everything She stands for..which means they hate you, me and everyone else that believes in freedom! They would just as soon chop off our heads that sit down with coffee and discuss our differences...this has been proven over and over again!! For some reason, liberals feel that negotiations and discussions with these terrorists will solve the problem...this is laughable!

Iraq is attempting to become a democracy, for the first time they have been able to vote and make THEIR voices heard!! President Bush said in Dec. 2005:
"It took a four-year civil war and a century of struggle after that before the promise of our Declaration (of Independence) was extended to all Americans," Bush said.

"It is important to keep this history in mind as we look at the progress of freedom and democracy in Iraq."

No matter what you think of President Bush, this is a correct statement. Unfortunately, we now live in such a microwave society that the American people want instant and immediate results. This will not happen! "Cutting and running" is exactly what the terrorists are counting on so that they can regroup, get stronger, and be even more violent around the world.

The liberal media does not want the American people to know that...they do not want to show the GOOD things our troops have done, they do not want you to hear the Iraqi people that are grateful to America and appreciate our help! They (the liberal media) continue to bomb barred us with nothing but negative about the war, they only show those few Iraqi's calling America "occupiers", show nothing but death and destruction vs. the new schools built, the fact that more Iraqi's have electricity and water, etc. Why you ask? Because the liberal media and the liberal Democrats hate Bush so much they are fearful that anything good that has been done NOT be reported!! THAT, my friend, is a sad, sad state of affairs.

Back to your original question, I just don't know, but I do know that pulling out now, showing America as weak and gutless will be a mistake we will ALL regret!!
